Craig Gillespie’s bracing seafaring drama is set in 1952 and stars Chris Pine as Bernie Webber, a young US Coast Guard skipper who’s the only one on duty when a call comes in that an oil tanker has broken in half off Cape Cod. Thirty-three crewmen are trapped and drifting in the severed stern, so Bernie and a crew of three rookies head out in atrocious conditions to rescue them.
