Man had cannabis worth €2,424

A COMMUNITY service report is to be prepared for a man who admitted having cannabis worth €2,424.

David O’Connor (27), formerly of 48 Wolfe Tone Square, West, Bray and now living in Ringsend, had one previous conviction for possession.

Last Thursday, Bray District Court heard that O’Connor admitted ownership of the drug after a search at his home on November 2, 2016, and also that O’Connor was fully cooperativ­e.

Solicitor Brendan Maloney said that his client had been living in Bray at the time and had been here for a number of years but is originally from Ringsend.

He has moved away from Bray and hasn’t come to the attention of gardaí.

The court heard that O’Connor had been off all substances for seven years and lapsed due to a break-up. He is clean of all substances now and is living in Ringsend again. His father was present in court.

Judge David Kennedy said that O’Connor is working, and has one previous offence.

‘It wouldn’t be beneficial to impose a custodial sentence, however much he might deserve one,’ said Judge David Kennedy.

Judge Kennedy ordered a that community service report be prepared and adjourned the matter to December 21.
