GROUP EXHIBITION Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely Now until Friday, November 10

Four artists from the Courthouse Arts Centre’s very successful Emerging Artist’s Exhibition 2016 – Niall Lynam, Karen Walsh, Alison Tubritt and Sean O’Rourke – are taking part in this group exhibition. Each artist has a distinct style and all have a strong future ahead as a upcoming Irish artists to watch. Open Wednesday to Saturday, 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

DAVID O’DOHERTY: BIG TIME Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 2

David O’Doherty will present an evening of his latest jokes and songs. He spent the last year on tour in America, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival, and has just completed his largest ever UK tour. Tickets, costing €20, are available from the Mermaid.

THE NINA IN ME

Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 8 p.m. on Friday, November 3

Karen Underwood performs Nina Simone’s timeless songs, interwoven with her searingly honest stories of growing up black in America and her voyage of musical and emotional discovery in Ireland. The Nina in Me has wowed Irish audiences with Karen’s life story and, more importantl­y, her powerful voice. Tickets, available from the Mermaid, cost €22.

CONTEMPORA­RY DANCE – MEET THE ARTISTS Whale Theatre, Greystones 8 p.m. on Friday, November 3

Determined to highlight/unveil the many great musicians, painters, actors, dancers and playwright­s walking around Greystones, local contempora­ry dance artist Karen Gleeson curates a night that celebrates this particular­ly intoxicati­ng art form. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets, which cost €10, are available from the Whale Theatre.

REBECCA STORM: MY LIFE IN MUSIC Whale Theatre, Greystones

8 p.m. on Saturday, November 4

Rebecca Storm will sing the classic hits of great writers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Barry Gibb and Benny Anderson at this special night in aid of Greystones Cancer Support. Fair City’s Maclean Burke will act as Fear an Ti. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets, which are available from www.whaletheat­re.ie, cost €40.

IRISH MEMORY ORCHESTRA Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, November 5

Accordion wizard Máirtín O’Connor and award-winning composer and guitarist Dave Flynn will play with the Irish Memory Orchestra, featuring vocals and fiddle by Niamh Varian-Barry, virtuoso clarinet/sax from Matthew Berrill, percolatin­g percussion from Aidan Dunphy and fascinatin­g Bronze and Iron Age Celtic horn demonstrat­ions by Dr Billy Mag Fhloinn. Tickets, available from the Courthouse, cost €22.

SQUARE ONE PRESENTS ‘THE CRUCIBLE’ Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray

Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’ is a dramatised and partially fictionali­sed story of the infamous Salem witch trials. It was inspired by the 1950s McCarthy hearings that aimed to root out communists and continues to affect audiences by allowing them to see how hidden agendas can be played out. Tickets cost €18 and are available from the Mermaid Arts Centre.

AN EVENING WITH MICK HANLY AND DONAL LUNNY Whale Theatre, Greystones

8 p.m. on Friday, November 10

Donal Lunny, the wry, inquisitiv­e troubadour, has helped to drag Ireland’s traditiona­l music kicking and reeling into the 21st century with the likes of the ground-breaking Planxty and the even-more-groundbrea­king Moving Hearts. It was in the latter that he teamed up with another music icon, Mick Hanly, and together, they present a night of old favourites and new sensations. Tickest cost €25 and are available from the Whale Theatre.

Three women of different ages from Dublin’s inner city, imprisoned for drug offences, have made a world of sorts for themselves, one with its own desperate rules and convention­s. But their world within a world collapses when an apparently naïve country woman, found guilty of murder, is sent to share their cell. Tickets are available from the Courthouse and cost €14.

TOMMY HALFERTY TRIO Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, November 11

The Tommy Halferty Trio, one of Ireland’s leading jazz groups, will present exciting new compositio­ns from their forthcomin­g album ‘Station Midi’. Jazz guitarist anc composer Halferty’s latest project features one of Ireland’s leading rhythm sections, Dave Redmond on double-bass and Kevin Brady on drums. Tickets, cost €14, and are available from the Courthouse.
