Boats for Hope launched

-

CHILDREN at Bray School Project had a ‘ boat release’ at Bray Harbour recently, for Global Goals.

The children put a huge amount of effort into creating their vessels in the classroom.

To mark World Poverty Day on October 17, schools nationwide were asked to reflect on the 17 Goals for Sustainable Development. In a joint project with 5th and 6th class, pupils made 17 boats using recycled materials. Each boat had a message or poem for hope for 2030 linked with their chosen Global Goal.

They had a whole school assembly on Thursday, October 19, (delayed from 17th due to Storm Ophelia) and afterwards 5th and 6th classes took the bus to Bray harbour, where they ‘ launched’ our boats. They thanked their caretaker Malcolm and Ben Geoghegan for all their assistance on the day.

The pupils were very proud of their constructions.

They launched them and then pulled the boats back in from the water to take away.
