Minister is inspired by NLN graduates
National Learning Network students received their QQI awards recently at a ceremony in the Royal Hotel. The students heard from Colin Keogh on the evening. Colin as an engineer and social entrepreneur. Colin is from Bray and has achieved international recognition for his Rapid Foundation.
The Rapid Foundation’s goal is to provide free, easy to use technology to people and communities around the world who need it, helping them to find solutions to their problems. Minister Simon Harris also participated in the ceremony, at which 70 learners received their QQI and trade specific awards for their achievements. The National Learning Network provides training programmes to people with disabilities, people with mental health difficul- ties and others who are distance from the labour market. ‘I was honoured to get the opportunity to speak at the National Learning Network certification ceremony in the Royal Hotel, Bray again this year. I have met so many wonderful people, some with disabilities and others who have overcome significant obstacles to secure jobs, progress to third level education and to further vocational training opportunities. The support structure within the National Learning Network and the families and friends of each student encouraged the learners to strive for their goals,’ he said. ‘I am really inspired by everyone who is being awarded this evening as they have worked incredibly hard to move beyond adversity and achieve their goals.’
