October 1983

-

A new extension costing almost £250,000 has been completed at the Marino Clinic, Vevay Road, Bray, after less than four years planning. The official opening ceremony was performed by Education Minister Gemma Hussey, who praised the work of everyone involved in the project in her address to the guests.

The new extension is a major advance for Marino Clinic and will accommodate two special schools which are run there. The first is a school for children suffering from cerebral palsy and the second is for children with impaired hearing with additional handicaps. The new extension and its facilities have been specially designed to cater for the needs of the children and.

The Marino Clinic is one of four such centres around the country which are run by the National Association for Cerebral Palsy. The others are in Dublin, Cork and Kilkenny.

Finance for the new building was mostly provided by the Department of Education, but there was a magnificent contribution made by local fund-raisers, The Friends of Marino.
