45 acre stud farm fetches €2.7 million
October 2004
A 45 acre stud farm near Arklow was sold last week to a local businessman for €2.7 million. Wish Willow stud farm at Whitepark, south of Arklow town, comprising a spacious 6,000 square feet home and 200 stables, was sold by Mr Malacy Stone, who is the proprietor of a major caravan park at Brittas Bay. Dublin auctioneers Jackson Stops, who conducted the sale on Wednesday last in their Dublin office, said that the auction attracted a lot of interest with between three and four bidders. Mr Stone has now repurchased Borleigh Manor near Inch for €3.5 million. He had previously owned Borleigh Manor and sold it some years ago.
Older people in the area will recall that Borleigh Manor had previously been the home of Robin Hood, the actor Richard Greene.
