QOP YOUTH CLUB

In the New Year the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club will celebrate its 51st year. This will be another year packed with adventure which will include over 90 events. The club 10 person committee, members, and parents are already listing items for the programme.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers Sub-Aqua Club has their training and diving plans set out for the next 12 months. It includes offering free induction training in the use of snorkellin­g gear, more night diving than in any previous year, survey of underwater wildlife in Carraig Eden Bay and the harbour. Trips will be to St John’s Point in Donegal, Hook Head in Wexford, Portroe Slate Quarry Dive Centre, and Lanzarote. New training courses will commence within the next six weeks. Two Taize Evenings: An open invitation to come, away to the quiet, for 30 minutes of silent reflection, on Wednesday, November 29, and Wednesday, December 20, at 8.30 p.m. in Holy Redeemer Church.

All Saints Day Today Wednesday: Today is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at 10 a.m., midday and 7 p.m.

Annual Bereavemen­t Mass: The annual Bereavemen­t Mass to remember all our loved ones, especially those who died during the past year, will be celebrated this coming Monday at 7 p.m. There will be light refreshmen­ts afterwards in the coffee dock.

Mission Sunday: The collection last Sunday week amounted to €1,963. Thank you all for your generosity.

Scoil Chualann: Scoil Chualann is celebratin­g 40 years this year. To mark this occasion, they are organising a dinner dance on Saturday, November 11, in the Summerhill House Hotel, Enniskerry. Feast of All Saints Today (Wednesday): Today is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be at 10.30 a.m. Tomorrow the feast of All Souls, Mass will be at 10.30 a.m.

Annual Remembranc­e Mass: Our annual Remembranc­e Mass for all who have died during the past year will take place this year on Saturday, November 11, at 6.30 p.m. in our Church. All those who have suffered a bereavemen­t are very welcome to attend. Light refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards in the Villa Pacis.

Church gate collection: The church gate collection this weekend is in aid of our local conference of St Vincent de Paul. October’s collection amounted to €1,220.

Divine Mercy Mass: A Divine Mercy Mass will take place this Friday at 8 p.m. in our Church.

Good News from Bugisi. Thanks in part to contributi­ons from this parish, the OLA Sisters new school has now got the badly – needed school bus. An article celebratin­g this appeared in the Bray People recently, a copy of which you can view at the back of the church and in Villa Pacis.

For All Parish Choirs: In preparatio­n for the World Meeting of families, all parish choirs are invited to attend a gathering of choirs and learn a new Mass setting and hymn written especially for the occasion. Afternoon tea will be provided. Please let your own parish office know if you will attend this event on Saturday, November 18, in Our Lady Queen of Peace, from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

BRAY CUALANN HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Last Thursday night Vandra Costello was the guest speaker for the October meeting, at 8 p.m. in the Royal Hotel, Bray at which she presented her lecture ‘Irish Demesne Landscapes 16601740.’ Prior to the lecture Brian White give a short presentati­on on the life of Josephine Heffernan, who served as a nurse in France in 1917 and her connection­s to at least three Bray families, Smyth, Matthews and Allen.

Pádraig Laffan will recall ‘The Desperate Fight to Save the Harvest of 1946 and the Severe winter of 1946/47’ at the Thursday, November 16, 8 p.m. meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society in the Royal Hotel, Main Street. All welcome. Visitors €5.

While there are no meetings in the Royal Hotel in December, on Thursday, December 7, James Scannell will present a talk ‘Christmas 1942 in Bray’ at 11.30 a.m. in Ballywaltr­im Library, Boghall Road, Bray. All welcome admission free.

The following day, Friday, December 8, James will present a his talk ‘Christmas 1917 in Bray’ at 11.30 a.m. in Bray Library, Eglinton Road, Bray. All welcome admission free.
