ST ANNE’S PARISH

St Anne’s Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. And 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by visiting the parish website at st ann es parish shank ill. com.

The Rosary: October is the month of the Rosary. We will pray for all children and families in our parish. Please join us at 2.45 p.m. in the church every Monday to Friday during October to say the rosary.

Wednesday Prayer Meetings: Continue each Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in room four of St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Confirmati­on Retreats: Retreats for Confirmati­on Classes will be held on the following dates in the Daughters’ of Charity Retreat Centre, Temple Hill, Blackrock: Tuesday, November 14 – St Anne’s; Wednesday, November 15 – St Anne’s; Tuesday, November 21 – Scoil Mhuire and Rathmichae­l.

Male Voice Choir: Rehearsals for our Parish Male Voice Choir take place every Thursday at 11 a.m. There will be tea or coffee available in St Anne’s Resource Centre from 10.30 a.m.

Remembranc­e Mass: This Sunday at 6 p.m. we will remember all of our parishione­rs who have died during the past year, as well as praying for the bereaved, particular­ly those who have lost loved ones in recent years.

First Friday: This Friday is the First Friday and the Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel will be open all day. Priests will be available on this day to visit the housebound and sick in the parish. Please contact the parish office if someone you know would like a priest to visit them.

Christmas Fair 2017: The Parish Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday, December 3, This year, we are appealing to any members of our congregati­on who may feel they can help with sponsorshi­p of the prize money. If you can help, please speak to Fr John, Martin Walsh or Pat Maguire.

Youth 2000: Youth 2000 meetings have resumed at 8 p.m. on Thursday nights in St Anne’s Church. We invite all 16- to 35-year-olds to join Youth 2000 in St Anne’s Church, Shankill, every Thursday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. to gather for a time of adoration, prayer, music, reflection and fellowship, followed by a cup of tea and social from 9 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

Volunteers Needed Shankill Tidy Towns: Help Shankill Tidy Towns keep the village looking well. We need volunteers to water plants on a rota once a fortnight. Come and join one of work teams on Saturday Mornings from 10 a.m. to midday and on Tuesday Mornings from 10 a.m. to midday. Meet outside Brady’s pub.

Men’s coffee morning: The Men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

FIRST SATURDAY BOOK

Sale This Saturday morning the November First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n and Meals on Wheels, will take place in the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n Day Centre between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into the book sale on Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the autumn. Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day. Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

pening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. And from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The library will be closed this Friday but open on Saturday and next Monday due to the October Bank Holiday. The parents and Toddler Group meets on Monday mornings (except bank holiday Mondays and the second Monday of the month), from 10.30 a.m. to 11.20 a.m.

RATHMICHAE­L HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Guest speaker for tonight’s (Wednesday) November meeting of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surroundin­g area, will be Jason Bolton, who will present his lecture ‘Early Medieval Masons in Rathdown’ in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, Co. Dublin. All welcome. Admission €4.

SHANKILL ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. And 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB

Our juvenile academy took the October Bank Holiday weekend off and will return to action this Saturday in our winter location of St Laurence’s College. Catering for both boys and girls from four to six years of age, it is sponsored by O’Donnell’s Pharmacy and in action every Saturday morning from10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The cost is only €2 per child and there is no annual subscripti­on. Qualified coaches are always in attendance and all equipment is supplied free of charge. So why not come along any Saturday morning and give the Academy a try. There was no weekend action as storm Brian brought a halt to all training and matches.
