CALENDAR TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER SUPPORT CENTRES

- By MARY FOGARTY

THE launch of the Wicklow Calendar took place last week in the Powerscourt Arms.

Singer Chris de Burgh was on hand to support the launch of the fundraising calendar, supporting the five cancer support centres in Wicklow and Wicklow Hospice Foundation.

The initiative, the brainchild of Marlena Murphy and Richard Kelly, supports the work of East Coast FM’s county-wide coffee morning.

Each month is represented by a beautiful image of County Wicklow, and photographs were submitted by photographers from all over the county.

The Wicklow Calendar is available now in the five Cancer Support Centres across Wicklow:

Bray Purple House; Greystones Support Cen- tre; Arklow Support Centre; Wicklow Support Centre and Rathdrum Support Centre.

Other locations include Photocraft in Bray, Maison Moli in Bray and Wicklow Tourism Office in Wicklow Town as well as The Fish Man in Wicklow Town, Wings & Things in Wicklow, Magpie Books in Enniskerry and online at eastcoast.fm.

Many wonderful photographers sent in their images and the judges had a very difficult decision to make in picking just 12.

There was one winner of a €250 voucher, and that was David Heath Williams ‘Sheep in Field’.

Photographers attended the launch ceremony, as well as Clare Hogan of East Coast FM, organisers, representatives of Wicklow Hospice and the cancer support centres, and supporters of the initiative.
