Arklow girls hit right note

-

LAST Saturday the Arklow RFC under-14 girls travelled to Enniscorthy away. Facing into their third consecutive away game, this team have shown remarkable resolve to date.

Arklow issued their intent from early on with two great tries from Sarah Lawlor. Enniscorthy then responded with a try and there were concerns that Arklow heads would drop. However, Grainne Flynn crossed over for a try to allay fears of that.

Emma Keane then got in on the act with two more tries following some strong running from Jane Neill.

Lara Prestage then crossed over in the final minutes to leave the final score at 39-12 to Arklow.

It must be said Enniscorthy were a very competent team and it is a testimony to the Arklow team’s defence that the home team’s scoring opportunities were kept to a minimum.

This was due in part to a huge effort from Becky Vickers, Celine Murray, Leah Hersee, Ava Brady, Daisy Tyner, Brogan Doyle and Katie Hanley.

Having only been established two months ago, this victory has been the culmination of the huge amount of work this team have put in coupled with their never-say-die attitude.

This Saturday they hope to continue this form when they host Tullamore at home at 12.30 at ARFC. All support would be welcome!

Arklow team: Becky Vickers, Emma Keane, Celine Murray, Ava Brady, Daisy Tyner, Brogan Doyle, Katie Hanley, Grainne Flynn, Jane Neil, Sarah Lawlor; Leah Hersee.

A big well done to Sally Ann and Rachel and all others involved with this team!

Keep it Up!!
