ATHLETICS AGM

The annual general meeting of the Roundwood and District Athletic Club will take place on Thursday, November 23, in Aras an.

45 CARD GAME

There will be a progressiv­e 45 card game on Sunday, November 26, in Roundwood Parish Hall at 7 p.m. in aid of the senior citizens Christmas party. All are welcome, excellent prize money with raffle, refreshmen­ts served at the break. Please note the earlier start of 7 p.m. for wintertime.

CABARET

A cabaret in aid of the senior citizens Christmas party will take place in the Royal Hotel, Glendaloug­h on Saturday, November 25, music by ‘Little Apples’.

PIONEER DANCE

The pioneer dance will be on Friday, November 24, in Roundwood Parish Centre with music by Jimmy Hogan. Anyone due either silver or gold pins please contact Sheila.

DINNER DANCE

Roundwood AFC are hosting a Christmas dinner dance on the Friday, November 24, in the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmou­nt.

Kennedy at 7.30 p.m. with a band and DJ and late bar and three course meal included at a price of €30 per person. Tickets can be purchased from Roundwood post office or Shane 087 4171521.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

There will be a pilgrimage to Lourdes from Roundwood in September, 2018. Names and €200 deposit before January 15, 2018, to Susan at 087 6273032. A pilgrimage to Knock will be on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8, 2018. More on both pilgrimage­s at a later date.

JUVENILE HANDBALL

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Clare Sally and Maura Gaskin took first place for North/South on Monday, November 6, second Nancy O’Brien and Catherine McGillycud­dy, third Phil Power and Monica Brady and fourth Séamus Kennedy and Pauric Gleeson.

First for East/West Teresa Leahy and Marian Davies, second Catherine Halligan and Bridie Nolan, third Rowena Brady and Maria Magee and fourth John Loscher and Margaret Byrne.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Friday, November 10, saw Margaret Bolger and Noeleen Redmond take first place for North/ South, second Judy Skates and Maria Magee, third Molly Byrne and Rachel Judd, and fourth June Digby and Maura Gaskin.

East/West victors were Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien joint second/third Nancy O’Brien, John Loscher, Phil Kenna and Liz Belton and fourth Jim McNamara and Pauric Gleeson.

GARDA BAND

The Garda Band will again play a concert in aid of the St Vincent de Paul in Roundwood Church on Tuesday, November 28. Tickets €10. Further details closer to the date.

SALE OF WORK

The parish sale of work will take place on Sunday, December 3, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. They are looking for the following. Donations of new unwanted gifts for the bric-a-brac stall, Home baking etc. for the Home Produce Stall, Bottles of wine/spirits for the bottle stall. All of these can be left into the parish office. Also seeking volunteers who could give an hour or two of their time on the day to sell tickets or help out on a stall. Every little helps. For more informatio­n call 087 6736066.

CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.

MORNING BADMINTON

Tuesday morning badminton is back in full swing from 9.30 a.m. – beginners always welcome. Some rackets are available.

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be running maths classes for Secondary School students in Roundwood Parish Hall. Classes will be available for first to sixth year students and are designed to focus on common areas that students struggle with. Guaranteed small class sizes and places are limited. WALKING CLUB

The Roundwood

Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour in and around Roundwood village.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of this week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 5, 14, 29 and 30. There was one match winner, Tina Kavangh. Next week’s jackpot will be €17,200.

IRISH MUSIC CLASSES

Learn traditiona­l Irish music and dance with an award-winning Comhaltas branch (guitar, fiddle, flute, tin whistle and grúpa ceoil). Classes are held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights in St Laurence O’Toole NS, Roundwood the first term is from September to January while the second term is from January to May. MEN’S SHED

Roundwood and District Men’s Shed: Our usual activities continue on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. at Pat Carr’s place in Knockrahee­n. On the coming Thursdays we resume with our 121 Digital tuition in Coláiste Chraobh Abhann in Kilcoole at 11.15 a.m.

Plans are afoot for our trip to Leinster House on Tuesday, December 5. Not sure if the government jet will be available but if not we will go by minibus. Places are still available so if you wish to join us you will be very welcome. Call 086 8650588 any time or have a word with one of the shed members.

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist are as follows: Top Score: Mary Murphy: Top Gent: Pat Fisher: Second Gent: Tiny Shortt and Martin Byrne (shared); Top Lady: May Kenna; Second Lady: Marie Magee; First Half: Kitty Kennedy; Second Half: Molly Byrne; Lowest Score: Patricia Byrne and Longest Sitting: Paddy O’Brien. Raffle prizes were won by Anne Pierce, Anne Wolohan and Marie Magee.

The next whist will be on Wednesday, November 22, in the Parish Centre.

45 IN MONEYSTOWN

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8 p.m. for the winter. Tea served.

SET DANCING

Set dancing continues on Thursday nights in Kavanagh’s lounge with an addition of giving jive lessons at 8.15 p.m. before our weekly session at no additional cost. Music this month by Michael and Brian.

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome.
