JUVENILE GAA

Congratulations to the Aughrim under-13 Football team and mentors on winning the B Football Championship last Saturday in atrocious conditions in Ballinakill. Playing on a wet day and on a rain soaked pitch, they overcame all the odds to eek out a great win against a very spirited St Kevin’s team. Aughrim played with a man down for more than 40 minutes on what was a very harsh sending off, nevertheless the players dug deep and deservedly won the game in a nail biting finish. Final score Aughrim 0-05 St Kevin’s 1-01.

Conor Edwards was immense throughout as was Alex Kavanagh, who struck for four points in a low scoring game. The Aughrim backs to a man defended like demons and cleared their lines well throughout the game it was through this solid defending that the team won out in the end.

Panel: Callum McKenna, Jack Dowling, Oisin Keegan, Lorcan Toomey, Leo Byrne, Conor Edwards, Dermot Toomey, Patrick Leccardi, Sam Carroll. Steven O’Toole, Hugh Gunning, Alex Kavanagh, Joe McGuckian, Joe McClean, Conaill O’Brien, Callum Cairnduff, Mark Shannon, Finn Byrne, Jack Byrne. Mentors: Pete Carroll, Eugene O’Brien, John Gunning.

The Aughrim Juvenile Christmas raffle tickets are printed and will be distributed to all players and parents over the coming days, there are some great prizes up for grabs this year, so get buying and selling over the next few weeks.
