TINAHELY ICA

Tinahely ICA held its guild meeting in the Teagasc Centre on October 26. Welcomed by our president Kathleen Byrne the minutes and correspond­ence were read by secretary Breda Murphy and treasure report from Rita Elliott.

Organising the senior citizen party was the main subject of which will be held in Murphy’s Hotel on Saturday, December 2, at 1.30 p.m. all you senior citizens out there are very welcome. Please put this date in your Diary as we will be looking forward to seeing you all to enjoy a great afternoon of a lovely dinner and Party with Denis for the afternoon.

Our own Christmas party is the Willoughby Bros Concert in the Ashdown Park Gorey November 18, Sue Waddell is going to the jnitting and Stiching in the RDS and she will bring back great ideas to the guild. Madge Kenny and Helen McDonnell were going to the ICA conference in Maynooth on November 4. Mary O’Connor gave some members Wool and Pattern to knit Buntings with Tinahely Colours this is a great project.

Olivia Copeland brought along Wendy Clarke Holist Therapists Of Little Health Therapies and she gave us a great session on Mindfulnes­s and an arrangemen­t of her Soaps and Products that she makes. It was a very enjoyable and we finished of the evening with a lovely supper which was supplied by Brenda Barry and Madge Kenny with a Halloween Theme.

Hope to see you all at our next meeting the November 16, We will be having a Demonstrat­ion on Batik by Mauve Hunter and our competitio­n is for the best Homemade Christmas Card.

SONG AND STORY

A Night of song and Story will be held in Littlewood Hall Coolkenno on Saturday, November 18, at 8 p.m. Admission five euro includes supper. There will be a raffle on the night. Proceeds in aid of Mullinacuf­fe Church.

QUIZ NIGHT

Alanna Davidson from the Coolboy area, is organising a table quiz to raise funds for a trip to Ethiopia in February with Gorta Self Help Africa. Alanna will travel with another student and teacher from Coláiste Bhríde to visit and witness some of the projects first hand. The quiz takes place on Friday, November 24, at 8.30 p.m. in the Little Moon, Coolboy. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

TINAHELY WALKS

On Sunday, November 19, the walk will be at Askinagap (Grade B, 10km, three hours) meeting in Tinahely 10.00. On Sunday, November 26, the walk will be a new route beginning at Phelan’s Pub, Ballinacla­sh (between Aughrim and Rathdrum) (Grade B, 10km, three hours) meeting in Tinahely 10.00, or Ballinacla­sh at 10.30. Please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food and drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

GAA LOTTO

On Monday, November 6, the numbers drawn were 5, 9, 13 and 22. Bonus number 1: No jackpot winner. Four match-three winners Betty Hedderman, Orla Kealy, Caroline Dunne and Lily O’Toole. Next lotto jackpot €5,000. Next draw in Black Tom’s on Monday, November 13, at 9.30 p.m.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The annual table quiz for the Community Games will take place on Friday, November 17, in Park View House, Shillelagh at 9 p.m. entry fee €40, all welcome.

RECYCLING CENTRE – NOTE

We would like to remind users due to some confusion recently that we ARE NOT permitted to take any fridges, freezers, cookers, washing machines or driers. Apologies for any inconvenie­nce caused as the county Council does not permit us to do so.

We CAN accept clean, dry card/paper, some metals, some plastics (1-4) and light bulbs. The Tinahely.ie website outlines what can and cannot be accepted and includes other beneficial informatio­n and can be accessed here: tinahely.ie/ We thank you all for your continued support.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

If you are living with Depression/Anxiety or any other mental health issue, you may benefit from attending the Tinahely mental health support group. Meetings will take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. upstairs in the library building in Tinahely. The cost is €5 per session including tea or coffee.
