THE GOOD OLD DAYS IN GREYSTONES
JOIN PETER MURTAGH, Dara MacMahon and Simon Morgan for a festive evening celebrating Greystones through song, music and stories.
‘ The Good Old Days in Greystones’ will take place at Whale Theatre on Saturday, December 16 at 8 p.m.
Learn about the mad-cap adventures of Colonel Fred Burnaby and Elizabeth Hawkins Whitshed, and the story behind other famous figures associated with the town such as Michael Collins, DeValera, Josef Locke and many more.
Explore what life was really like 100 years ago, and how Greystones has evolved and developed into the 21st century.
These stories will be presented by author and journalist Peter Murtagh, with his inimitable charm and wit, accompanied by fascinating historical images and video footage, interspersed with musical interludes and songs performed by local mezzo-soprano, Dara MacMahon, and internationally renowned baritone, Simon Morgan. The concert will feature popular and well-known musical, music hall, parlour, Irish and Christmas songs.
Peter and Dara have produced several shows together about the colourful history of Greystones including The Tales of the Burnaby and World War I.
There will be a chance for the audience to sing along to their favourite songs and carols.
All audience members should feel free to dress up in vintage apparel to really enter into the spirit of this fun-filled night, which is sure to get you in the mood for Christmas.
