HUNDREDS of mourners turned up to bid a fond farewell to Avoca woman Elizabeth Humphries née Kinsella who was laid to rest recently.

Elizabeth who was dearly loved by her family and friends, fought a seven-battle with cancer and passed away surrounded by those she cherished most.

A native of Conary, Elizabeth was the daughter of Timmy and Elizabeth Kinsella and sister to Margaret, Timothy, Patrick, Charlotte and Bebe. Elizabeth was sadly predeceased by her mother and her brother Timothy. Happily married to John Humphries for more than 20 years, Elizabeth resided in Woodview Park, Avoca and was the mother of David (32) and Brandon (18).

She was devoted to her family and was so proud of her sons, David who is a digger driver and Brandon who attends Avondale Community College in Rathdrum.

Family was the most important thing to Elizabeth and she always had a very strong bond with her own beloved parents and her siblings. When the next generation of the family arrived, Elizabeth slipped easily into the role of loving grandmother to Kyle, Tyler, Doireann and Tommy.

She was well known by many people in the community. While Elizabeth was a real ‘ homebird’ she loved to get dressed up and go out socialising. She also loved an evening at the Bingo with her sister Charlotte and visiting her aunt Margaret and uncle Michael.

Elizabeth received plenty of love and support from her aunts, uncles and many relatives during her illness as well as from her Avoca neighbours. Elizbeth was laid to rest in Castlemacadam Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
