CELEBRATION OF BRAY’S PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES

THE BRAY Chamber Endeavour Awards were presented last Friday evening at the Royal Hotel with an audience of more than 250 in attendance.

Chamber president Pat Ó Súilleabháin spoke passionately about how the awards were about the community of Bray and the achievements of the people and companies in Bray.

The President’s Award went to Duff ’s Pub in Bray, presented to Madeleine and Michael O’Hanrahan, just months after the sad death of Madelien’s brother Ken Duff and as she and Michael continue his legacy.

Dr Fidelma savage received the award ‘Person of the Year’ for her tireless work with the scouts, on behalf of the homeless, and volunteering with Bray Community Addiction.

Betty Murphy received a lifetime recognition award for a lifetime of kindness. In the 70s and 80s she made sure people had a hot drink and food, and continues to quietly charitable works today with visits to nursing homes.

Ciaran McKay, Jack Lawlor and Luca Pezzillo of Pres received the academic youth award for their work in energy savings. Molly Comish received the civic youth award for her innovative ‘Dignity Packs’ for the homeless. Boxing champions Daina Moorehouse and Shannon Reilly received sports youth awards.

The Joyce family received the sports achievement award for their outstanding achievements in cricket.

Gary Prunty received the civic award for his hard work and dedication both at Purple House, and Bray Emmets.

Bray Old Folks Association received the community award for many years of meals on wheels and other services for senior citizens.

Business and tourism awards were presented to the Wicklow Voice, the Travel Boutique, Dubray Books, Dockyard No 8 and Bray Bowl.
