Blessingto­n Youth Theatre presents this fun show jam-packed with dance performanc­es and much-loved songs from movies like Beauty and the Beast, the Wizard of Oz. Moana, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and more. The evening will end with a short drama called ‘Humbug’ and some Christmas carols. Tickets are available from The Office Shop and Hennessys Next Door on Main Street, Blessingto­n, and cost €10 for adults and €8 for children.

PIGALLE – CHANSONS DE PARIS ÉDITH PIAF Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 7

Pigalle! is packed with music from the cabarets and cafes of Paris, with romantic interludes from Parisian carnivals and market-places; the show portrays the diminutive chanteuse’s life of poverty from her beginnings in the Paris slums to her worldwide fame and notoriety. Chanteuse Derby Browne performs her very personal reading of Edith Piaf, with classics such as ‘La Vie En Rose’, ‘No Regrets’, ‘Autumn Leaves’ and ‘Under The Bridges of Paris’. Tickets cost €25 and are available from the Mermaid.

ST CECELIA SINGERS CHRISTMAS CONCERT Church of Ireland Parish Church, Glenealy 8 p.m. on Friday, December 8

The St Cecelia Singers and conductor Sandra Ganly will perform alongside harpist Denise Kelly during this special fundraisin­g concert, which will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies. The proceeds will be in aid of St Colman’s Hospital Patients Comfort Fund and Glenealy parish. ELEANOR TIERNAN Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray 8 p.m. on Friday, December 8

Comedian Eleanor Tiernan is well-known among Irish audiences for her live stand-up performanc­es and her work in TV, theatre and on radio. She was featured on Stewart Lee’s Alternativ­e Comedy Experience on Comedy Central and has played Latitude, Glastonbur­y, Montreal Just For Laughs and all of the top Irish comedy festivals. She plays Dolores in the RTÉ sitcom Bridget and Eamonn. Eleanor lives in the UK where she enjoys making social faux pas and losing personal items on public transport. Tickets cost €15/12 and are available from the Mermaid.

THE WHISTLING GIRL The Hot Spot Music Club, Greystones 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 9

Honor Heffernan (vocals) and Trevor Knight (keyboards) and their band (Ed Deane on guitar, Garvan Gallagher on bass, and Tom Jamieson on drums) present an exciting evening of original music interspers­ed with songs by writers such as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Brecht and Weill, Diamanda Gallas and Peter Green. The original songs will be taken from their acclaimed show ‘The Whistling Girl’, featuring music composed by Trevor that was inspired by the poetry of the great American poet, wit and critic Dorothy Parker.
