Bray blogger on short list for Eir Spider awards

-

BRAY based blogger and writer Niamh O’Reilly has been shortlisted for a prestigious Eir Spider Award for Best in Blogging for her popular parenting website, TheMammyBlog.ie.

Set up just 7 months ago, following the birth of her baby boy in December 2016, Niamh’s refreshing brand of honesty and humour has struck a chord with fellow mums around the country, who identify with her real life tales of daily life as a new mum.

Niamh started TheMammyBlog.ie, after she struggled with the momentous change to her life and decided to write about it, as both a form of catharsis for herself and to help other new mums who were feeling the same way.

‘Up until my son arrived in December 2016, I’d never changed a nappy, made a bottle, put on a onesie or even held a baby for more than 5 minutes without it unleashing what I like to call the death roar,’ she laughs.

‘I’m absolutely over the moon to be shortlisted for an Eir Spider Award, for Best in Blogging. The blog has been a huge success. I’ve shared some very personal stories, but if it helps just one other mum who has felt the same way then it’s worth it. The support I’ve received from other new mums has been overwhelming.’

This isn’t the first time Niamh has found herself on the shortlist however. In 2010 she was shortlisted for Best Digital Editor for her then website Beautycouture.ie. The awards, which are known as the ‘Oscars’ of the Irish web industry take place on November 30 in Dublin’s Mansion House.
