A WEST Wicklow nursing home team was honoured at the Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards, in association with Homecare Medical Supplies.
Sinead Beirne and the team from Dunlavin Nursing Home, Silverstream Healthcare, were finalists at the recent national awards ceremony.
The local nursing home staff were one of three finalists within the Nursing Community Initiative award category.
In excess of 400 representatives from the nursing home, older person care and health sectors attended the awards ceremony that was hosted by RTE presenter Marty Whelan.
Tadhg Daly, Nursing Homes Ireland CEO, extended his congratulations to Sinead and the team for reaching the final of the national awards ceremony.
‘Entries were received from across Ireland for outstanding staff who are excelling in providing care to our older persons. The standard of entry for this year’s awards was exceptional. To reach the final of an award category was a fantastic achievement, and I congratulate our Sinead and the team from Dunlavin Nursing Home for achieving this. The staff and residents of Dunlavin Nursing Home, and the extended Dunlavi community, should be very proud of their accomplishment,’ he said.
A total of 27 finalists from counties and communities across Ireland went forward for nine award categories.
They recognise nurses, carers, ancillary workers, activity coordinators, catering in nursing homes, innovation in dementia care, community initiative, and end of life care within the nursing home sector.
