The lives of family and friends no longer with us will be celebrated as the Christmas tree, erected by West Wicklow Day Care Committee in the grounds of Baltinglas­s Hospital, is lit up. A carol service will also be held on this very poignant evening.

CHRISTMAS MARKET

The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club are hosting this festive market in aid of the Kilmacanog­ue CFR group. There will be stalls, Christmas trees, face painting, gift sets, Christmas plants and wreaths, crafts, novelty ideas, local choirs and a special guest performanc­e. Of course, Santa will also be there on the day and is hoping to see all the local children.

FESTIVAL FUN

Arklow Christmas Festival continues with a fun-packed festive fair and lots of activities, including a busking competitio­n, Santa Dash with the Inbhear More Marchers, Christmas jumper competitio­n, Best Dressed Festive Pet competitio­n and lots of musical entertainm­ent from local talent.

OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS MARKET

The now-annual fair returns with the usual broad range of stalls and attraction­s. Some of the proceeds from the stallholde­rs fees will go to Glencormac United Football Club.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY

The festive fun will be flowing as Ballinacla­sh Foroige Youth Club hosts it’s children’s Christmas party. A letter has just arrivedd from the North Pole to confirm that Santa himself will be in attendance.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS AND DINNER

The soothing sounds of the Delgany Choir performing muchloved carols will entertain all those attending this meal at Delgany Golf Club. Tickets cost €30 per person and places can be reserved by calling Jamie or Kevin on 01 2874536.

THE WHISTLING GIRL

Honor Heffernan (vocals) and Trevor Knight (keyboards) and their band (Ed Deane on guitar, Garvan Gallagher on bass, and Tom Jamieson on drums) present an exciting evening of original music interspers­ed with songs by the likes of Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell. The original songs are taken from their acclaimed show ‘The Whistling Girl’, featuring music composed by Trevor that was inspired by the poetry of the great American poet, wit and critic Dorothy Parker. The Brockagh will be buzzing as this seasonal market serves up cakes, puddings and other homebaking, jewellery, hand knits, Christmas decoration­s, candles, wreathes, handmade cards and soaps, toys, novelty items, origianl artworks and much, much more. For the little ones, Santa will arrive by horse and carriage at 1 p.m.

MOUNTAIN RESCUE FAMILY DAY

The hard-working members of the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue team are inviting friends and strangers alike to drop into their rescue base, enjoy a tour and some festive refreshmen­ts and find out more about what the team do.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS

The village of Grangecon will be out in force for the annual festive fun that comes with the lighting up of the christmas tree. So dig out the Christmas jumpers and wrap up well ahead of the big switch-on at 5 p.m.

WICKLOW MALE VOICE CHOIR CHRISTMAS CONCERT

This promises to be a special event for Wicklow Male Voice Choir, presented as it will be for the first time by its new Musical Director Tony Norton accompanie­d on piano by David Wray and featuring guest soprano Sandra Oman. The members of are delighted to bring this line-up of internatio­nally recognised and lauded talent to Wicklow to help kick-start the Christmas Season. Tickets cost €15 and can be purchased from The Grand Hotel, Earls Newsagents or from any choir member.

THE WILLOUGHBY BROTHERS

The hugely-successful brothers from Coolboy bring their unmistakab­le voices to Kilrush Church for this special Christmas church. Tickets cost €20 and are available from the parish office.
