Jason becomes first Bradshaw to captain club

-

JASON BRADSHAW, part of the famous Bradshaw golfing dynasty, has become the first of the Bradshaws to be elected Captain of Delgany Golf Club, Co. Wicklow.

The most famous of the Bradshaws was Harry, a three time Ryder Cup player who also won the World Cup for Ireland in 1958.

And despite a Bradshaw, (Ned, Harry, Eddie and Jimmy) all being club professionals at Delgany for a staggering unbroken 77 years, until Jimmy’s retirement in 1989, none of them captained the club.

Jason, a partner with Dublin Accountants JPA Brenson Lawlor, becomes one of the youngest captains in the club’s 110th year of existence.

Like many other clubs, Delgany’ s membership was hit by the collapse of the economy but, in a sign of the times, the club will shortly be reverting to a waiting list and entrance fee for new full members.

Commenting on his captaincy Jason says the emphasis in the coming year is attracting younger members to the game, to see Delgany thrive for another century plus.
