SANTA IS COMING

Come and welcome Santa and his two horse carriage at the Glendaloug­h Christmas Fair, Sunday, December 10, at 1 p.m. in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Santa is inviting all children from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to visit with him in his grotto.

CAR BOOT SALE

Our pre-Christmas Car Boot is coming up on Sunday, December 3. Get your Christmas decoration­s, homemade mince pies and cakes, clothes and accessorie­s, books, candles, presents and much more. Vans must be booked in. Car park spaces for the next month or so will be limited so please pre-book indoor spaces early. Contact the Brockagh Centre at 0404 45600 or email laraghit@eircom.net if you wish to book an indoor space or if you prefer to sell outside just show up on the morning.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

The Brockagh Resource Centre is having their annual Glendaloug­h Christmas Fair on Sunday, December 10. We welcome the locality and visitors to shop locally where you will find unique presents and gifts at very good value while enjoying a very festive day out. Stallholde­rs will be selling their baking, jewellery, wreaths, woodturnin­g, knits, candles, decoration­s, photograph­y and more on the day. RAZZLE DAZZLE

‘The Razzle Dazzle Academy presents their annual Christmas Showcase, featuring all our wonderful Dazzlers, on Saturday, December 16, in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh. Show starts at 3 p.m. (doors open 2.45 p.m.) Promises to be lots of fun, filled with song, drama and laughter and guaranteed to get you in the Christmas Spirit. Tickets available at the door.’.

CAROLS BY CANDLELIGH­T

A great way to start Christmas, in one of the most evocative settings in Wicklow. We invite you to join us on Tuesday, December 19, at 7.30 p.m. for a unique event to celebrate Christmas. Beginning with a candlelit procession through the monastic gates we will proceed to the ruins of the candlelit Cathedral for an evening of traditiona­l carol singing in the monastic style. Tea, coffee will be provided afterwards in the Glendaloug­h Hotel courtesy of Pat Casey.

This a free event and open to everyone, including children, which must be accompanie­d by an adult. Assemble in the Glendaloug­h Hotel car park at 7.15 p.m. Wrap up warm and bring your own lantern/torch and singing voice.

ART AND ATMOSPHERE

Rathdrum Historical Society will present a lecture by Joan Kavanagh in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh on Glendaloug­h Art and Atmosphere using images from the exhibition currently on display in the centre. The exhibition and talk is based on a selection of paintings and drawings held by the National Library and the National Gallery of Ireland.

The lecture will be given on Monday, December 4, in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh at 8 p.m., followed by tea or coffee and festive mince pies. Please note the change from the Society’s Rathdrum v enue. There will be a charge of €3 at the door and all are welcome.

MOVIE NIGHT

Christmas Movie Night to raise funds for Elevation Dance Team. We are looking to raise funds for uniforms, Westend and Disney opportunit­ies, also for competitio­ns at national level. Showing movie will be Elf on December 17, a family favourite. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with entrance fee of €4.50 which includes a hot chocolate. Wear your favourite Christmas pyjamas.

SALE OF WORK

All roads lead to Aras An Tochar this Sunday for the Roundwood and Moneystown Sale of work from midday to 4 p.m.

There’s something for everyone: beautiful festive flower arrangemen­ts, wheel of fortune, bottle stall, home produce, toy stall, books, face painting, birc a brac, roulette, carol singing, prizes of turkey, ham and Christmas cake.

Walk away with €1,000 or any of the many prizes on the grand raffle. Santa will also be there to meet all the local boys and girls... A great day out for all the family, so do come along.

HAPPY DAYS

Happy Days baby and toddler drop in group is every Wednesday morning 10.30 – midday at the Brockagh Centre (break in July and Aug). Coming on the December 6 is the Christmas art day and following that is the groups Christmas party on December 13 Contact Sandra 0404 45600 at the centre for more informatio­n.

Our warmest welcome to baby summer into the world and best wishes to Kerry, Scott and Hunter, who have an extra happy edition to their family this Christmas.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Our Christmas lunch will be in the Wicklow Heather on December 12. This week David and Francis from Aughrim Bowling Facility attended the centre for a bowling session. The members look forward to their monthly session and have become very competitiv­e. Our Christmas party dinner is taking place at Kilashee Hotel in Kildare December 4, some places are still available so if your interested contact the centre asap.

On December 12 pupils from the primary school will be attending the Brockagh Centre to perform Christmas carols for the Active Retirement and Sunbeam Services. It will commence at 11.30 a.m., grandparen­ts are most welcome to attend on the day. New members welcome, why not come along on a Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. and check us out.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

MAINTENANC­E POSITION

WALKING GROUP

On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendaloug­h area for approximat­ely one hour. All ages and abilities are welcome. FITNESS DANE

Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. You do not need to be a good dancer or very fit, dance at your own pace and enjoy the music. You can contact Adam at 083 3057949 for informatio­n.

EVENING YOGA

Viva’s yoga classes are for beginners to advance on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Wear comfortabl­e clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. You can contact Viva at 086 3409629 for more informatio­n.

ADULT GUIDANCE

The Citizens Informatio­n Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for informatio­n relating to your rights and entitlemen­ts from 10 a.m. till midday on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointmen­t is necessary for this free and confidenti­al service.
