Council writes to CIE about train station

-

THE Minister for Transport Shane Ross wrote to Greystones Municipal District saying that he is not involved with day-to-day decisions on train stations.

This is with regard to the proposed letting out of Greystones Train Station.

Minister Ross said that he forwarded a query by the district council to the Chief Operating Officer of CIE who should respond.

District Administrator Myra Porter said that they have also written to CIE about the matter.

Cllr Nicola Lawless said that to change the focal point of the town is appalling. She said that there is a convenient connection at the station entrance with busses. Cllr Lawless said that she would have no problem with a business at the station, but said that moving people out of the town itself would be ‘ ludicrous’.

Cllr Gerry Walsh said that there might also be an issue of security and safety.
