Roundabouts works ‘too costly’
THE landscaping of roundabouts on the Charlesland Dual Carriageway would cost in excess of €95,000.
This was in a report to the members by District Engineer Ruairi O’Hanlon for the district meeting last Tuesday evening.
Mr O’Hanlon said that quotes were sought for re-landscaping to Greystones Tidy Towns designs from 17 different landscaping contractors.
Only three companies submitted quotes, the lowest being €95,220.60.
‘Wicklow County Council does not have funding to progress this at this stage and it is unlikely that it will do even with sponsorship,’ said Mr O’Hanlon. Quotes were also sought for the repair of damaged pedestrian barriers along the Charlesland Dual Carriageway.
Irish Fencing Ltd was awarded the contract with works likely to commence in the new year.
