Candlelight service for those affected by cancer

-

The Purple House candlelight service took place last Friday evening at the Holy Redeemer in Bray.

The ceremony was an emotional one, with music, poetry, and the theme ‘ honour, grace and gratitude in our community’.

Everyone was given a candle of hope on their way in, to hold during the service.

The occasion was held for anyone who is affected by cancer.

Member Dylan Lynch (14) read out the peace prayer and there were numerous musical guests.

Tenor Ross Scanlon performed on the evening, as well as soprano Ann Hickey.

The Holy Redeemer choir sang, as did the newly formed Purple House choir for their very first public appearance.

Anyone affected by cancer can join the choir. Rehearsals take place every second Monday evening in Purple House Bray. No singing experience is needed.

The evening included a party with refreshments afterwards in the Little Flower Hall.

‘We are so proud of the Purple House choir who performed for the first time in public and they were amazing,’ said a spokesperson.

Candles of hope can be purchased at purplehouse.ie for €2, as well as purple Christmas baubles.
