Wicklow topple Dundalk in style

WICKLOW U-18 DUNDALK U-18 49 5

THE Wicklow under-18 girls finished off their stage A of the Leinster League last Saturday with a trip to Dundalk.

Missing a few girls through injury and illness, this was the Wicklow side’s last competitive outing before Christmas and they were determined to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

They started brightly and on a narrow pitch they worked well through the forwards to drive hard into the heart of Dundalk territory and initialy shunned their normally expansive game to continue with a pick and go game to suck in defenders.

Having scored a couple of early tries with this ploy, Dundalk had to commit more defenders to the breakdown and then Wicklow were happy to throw the ball wide and let their new look back line damage.

Wicklow ran out worthy winners 49–5 and finished the first half of the season with 10 wins from 10 scoring over 360 point with only 22 against.

They look forward to the second half of the League when games will be come far more competitive.
