Happy Retirement: After many years of dedicated service, we will be saying thank you to Kathleen Bradshaw on her retirement as Sacristan of St Mochonog’s this Sunday at 10 a.m. Mass in Kilmacanogue. There will be a cuppa in the hall afterwards, all are welcome.

Parish Pastoral Council: At their meeting last Tuesday week evening last the Parish Pastoral Council finalised a brief questionnaire that will issue to all households in the parishioners before Christmas seeking their feedback on issues that are important to the development of our Faith Community. The feedback will support the planning of a meeting of parishioners which it is hoped will take place before next Easter.
The meeting also discussed a number of property matters that need to be addressed; at St Mary’s the reinstatement of the side gates, gutter cleaning, improvement to PA system and painting, at St Mochonog’s internal painting of the tower, parking safety to the rear of the church and remedial works to church ruins in the old cemetery and at St Patrick’s the provision of external PA There was also initial consideration of a number of matters which need to be addressed arising from the recently published ‘Administrative Regulations and Guidelines for Parishes’. More detailed discussion will take place at the Council’s next meeting on January 30.

Legion of Mary – Kilmacanogue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Visit legionofmary.ie.

CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS
Enniskerry Concert Choir and special guest, internationally renowned soprano Niamh Murray, present a wonderful Christmas musical celebration. Traditional and contemporary favourites, including O Holy Night, In the Bleak Midwinter, Silent Night, Christmas Angel, The Holy City, and many more. James Scannell, PRO of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, will be the guest speaker for the 8.30 p.m. Thursday, December 14, meeting of the Enniskerry History Society in the Powerscourt Arms and Country House Hotel Society, at which he will present his illustrated lecture ‘They Went On Their Own: Dublin Firefighters and Easter 1941 Belfast Blitz’. MOVIE NIGHT
Christmas Movie Night to raise funds for Elevation Dance Team at the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. We are looking to raise funds for uniforms, Westend and Disney opportunities, also for competitions at national level. Showing movie will be Elf on December 17, a family favourite. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with entrance fee of €4.50 which includes a hot chocolate. Wear your favourite Christmas pyjamas.

The Brockagh Resource Centre is having their annual Glendalough Christmas Fair on Sunday, December 10. In order for this event to succeed and continue, we need the support of the community and visitors to shop local where you will find unique presents and gifts at very good value while enjoying a very festive day out. Stallholders will be selling their baking, jewellery, wreaths, woodturning, knits, candles, decorations, photography and more on the day. CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT
A great way to start Christmas, in one of the most evocative settings in Wicklow. We invite you to join us on Tuesday, December 19, at 7.30 p.m. for a unique event to celebrate Christmas. Beginning with a candlelit procession through the monastic gates we will proceed to the ruins of the candlelit Cathedral for an evening of traditional carol singing in the monastic style.
Tea, coffee will be provided afterwards in the Glendalough Hotel courtesy of Pat Casey. This a free event and open to everyone, including children, which must be accompanied by an adult. Assemble in the Glendalough Hotel car park at 7.15 p.m. Wrap up warm and bring your own lantern/ torch and singing voice.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT
Our Christmas lunch will be in the Wicklow Heather on December 12. This week David and Francis from Aughrim Bowling Facility attended the centre for a bowling session. The members look forward to their monthly session and have become very competitive.
On December 12 pupils from the primary school will be attending the Brockagh Centre to perform Christmas carols for the Active Retirement and Sunbeam Services. It will commence at 11.30 a.m., grandparents are most welcome to attend on the day. New members welcome, why not come along on a Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. and check us out.
