COUNTY FIRE SERVICES

Coolgreany Community Alert in conjunctio­n with Wexford County Council Assistant Fire Officer Mr Ray Murphy will deliver a talk and video presentati­on on Fire Safety in the Home, at the May Byrne House this Thursday night, December 7, at 8 p.m., also he will be explaining the availabili­ty of Free Smoke Alarms for those who may qualify for them in our local area. Margaret Quinn of Muintir na Tir Developmen­t Officer will also be attending.

COOLGREANY SURGERY

We are just about to reach another very important milestone in the life of our community with the local surgery about to move to a more central position in Knockgrean­y, Coolgreany beside the Hairdressi­ng Saloon, with the official opening date set for Monday, December 11, where all facilities will be the same as heretofore.

For the benefit of anyone new to the area, take the Ballyfad road for 100 metres from the Coolgreany Inn, turn right and again travel another 100 metres and the Surgery will be on your left (Signposted). The Surgery will be managed by Dr Tom Kennedy and Dr Miriam Birch. All Surgery opening hours will be the same as always.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

John Kavanagh from Camolin will give a presentati­on to the Old Kilnenor Historical Society on the timeline of the Coolgreany Evictions and on the work done to date on the book which we hope to publish next year. This talk takes place on Thursday, December 14, at 8 p.m. in the May Byrne Trust House, Coolgreany. If you would like to get involved in the book or have any documents or artefacts relating to the evictions please come along. €3 for non-members.

Thanks to Kevin Lee (Retired Principal, Carnew) who have a great and detailed talk about Coollattin Estate and Emigration.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Congratula­tions to everyone involved in the switching on of the Christmas Lights on last weekend, they really add a lot of colour to the village. Good Wishes. We would like to wish everyone who may be ill in hospital or Convalesci­ng at home a speedy recovery to full health and hope you have a nice Christmas.

HANDBALL LOTTO

Coolgreany Handball lotto now stands at €2,900, lotto tickets are available in Jim Short’s, Coolgreany post office, O’Rafferty’s. and Liam Clare. A new prize format is now in place, with seven lucky dips worth €30 each and one Sellers Prize.

Congratula­tions to Mrs Molly McDonald Knockgrean­y, who won €30 in a Lucky Dip. Your support is very much appreciate­d by the club.
