VANDALISED TREES ARE REPLACED
A number of trees which were destroyed by vandals in the People’s Park last October have been replaced by the council.
Seven newly planted trees were broken during the night two months ago. The trees had been planted as replacements in the park following flood protection works. ‘ These trees were not saplings so it would have taken some effort to cause this damage,’ said district administrator David Forde at the time. He estimated the cost of replacing them at €2,500.
Locals have welcomed the replacement of the trees in a timely fashion.
Landscaping of the park following the flood works also included the installation of new seating. One resident at the time, said that they were ‘completely and utterly saddened and disgusted’ by the vandalism.
Cllr Steven Matthews recently facilitated the organisation of a Dargle Residents Association to represent all of the residents of the Dargle area.
