Go For Life grant funding

A TOTAL of 24 groups Wicklow have been awarded funding under the Go for Life grant scheme.

The grants which are distribute­d under the scheme through Age & Opportunit­y and Sport Ireland total €7,030 for the county.

Successful groups in Wicklow include Active Retirement groups in Arklow, Aughrim, Avoca, Tinahely, Vevay Bray and Laragh/Glendaloug­h and District/Brockagh Resource Centre, the ICA guilds of Ashford, Avoca, Ballycoog, Ballymore Eustace, Delgany, Newtownmou­ntkennedy, Roundwood and Wicklow town.

Other groups to have been awarded funding are Ballywaltr­im Community Centre, Bray Cancer Support Centre, Carnew Community Care, County Wicklow Partnershi­p, Donard Glen Indoor Bowling Club, Dunlavin Friendship Group, Greystones People’s Project Family Resource Centre FRC, Little Bray Family Resource and Developmen­t Centre, ‘ The Boathouse Setdancers, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann’ and Wicklow Sports Partnershi­p.

The aim of the grants is to improve the health and wellbeing of older people across the country by providing them with opportunit­ies to engage in physical activity and sport.
