Conroy’s treble can’t prevent Enniskerry loss

-

THE action was extremely thin on the ground for the Co. Wicklow sides in Leinster with the weather scuppering the majority of fixtures.

Only three went ahead and of those three league clashes, Co. Wicklow can only boast a single point.

There was a bit of a David v Goliath clash in Division 3A as leaders Iveagh Celtic hosted bottom-of-the-table Enniskerry YC.

It should have been a straightforward victory for the Crumlin side but nobody reminded Jordan Conroy to read the script and he did all he could to inspire a stun- ning upset with a sublime hat-trick.

Unfortunately, goals rained in at the other end for Enniskerry’s second team as they eventually succumbed to a 6-3 defeat but the highlight of the tie was a beauty of a free kick from Conroy.

Dissapointment greeted Ardmore Rovers at the final whistle on Friday evening as they remained in the bottom two of Major Sunday following a 0-3 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Ballyfermot United who climbed off the foot of the table with this precious win.

Greystones United did restore some pride for Garden County as they picked up a point at home to Home Farm courtesy of a 3-3 draw.
