Man arrested over machete in rucksack

A MAN was found in possession of a large machete in the Ashford area on Wednesday last, December 6.

Gardaí stopped the man as he was walking in the village at around 2.48 p.m. and searched a rucksack he was carrying.

The machete was found hidden inside and was confiscated. The man was then arrested and brought to the nearest Garda Station for questioning. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
