ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU!

Helped by SANTA, Barry tells Suzanne...

- By MARY FOGARTY

Santa had an early gift for Suzanne Kellett, who responded with an emphatic ‘yes!’ when surprised with an engagement ring last Thursday at Arnotts.

Her fiancee Barry Clarke had asked for Santa’s help in popping the question, and Santa was only to happy to oblige as the family visited his grotto.

He even made sure Barry didn’t forget to take to one knee as he asked Suzanne to marry him. Their little boy Cameron (2) was also there and got a little present.

SANTA CLAUS himself helped local man Barry Clarke pop the question to his partner Suzanne Kellett last week in Arnott’s.

During a visit to Father Christmas with their son Cameron (2), Santa produced a ring for Suzanne and Barry got down on one knee.

Cameron was as good as gold during the entire operation, having been given a little present before the proposal got under way.

A video capturing the lovely moment has since gone global, with even Good Morning America contacting the couple for an interview.

Suzanne’s face was the picture of surprise as it dawned on her what exactly was happening, and of course she said yes.

‘Santa had a very special gift for a special lady today in Arnotts,’ Barry captioned the video. ‘She said yes! Thanks to the staff in Arnotts for arranging and keeping this a secret. Thanks to Santa for playing a stormer and thanks to Cameron for lying on the floor for the whole thing.’

Barry is from Shankill, where the family lives. His business BC Media Solutions is based in Bray, and Barry had been DJ in a number of venues around Bray. He said that the media attention has ‘gone mad’ since last Thursday.

He explained that he had been planning on proposing for some time.

Suzanne loves Christmas and they had arranged to bring their son to see Santa, so it occurred to Barry that this would be the perfect moment.

‘It was something different,’ said Barry. ‘ The plan was concocted within an hour.’

It was arranged for he and Cameron to meet Suzanne in town and, having gotten there a little early, Barry spoke to staff at Arnott’s, as well as Santa, who was delighted to oblige and be a part of the couple’s moment.

Barry had just bought the ring the day before. ‘Everything just came together,’ said Barry, who loved that Santa had the ring hidden in his hand and then revealed it.

The happy couple then rang their family members to announce the good news. They hope to tie the knot this time next year, celebrating
