Gardaí rise to the challenge of fundraising for cancer support

THE combined efforts of gardaí from the Wicklow and Bray Districts have helped to raise €380 for Wicklow Cancer Support.

The annual Druids Golf Challenge takes place between gardaí from both districts and, this year, took place on Friday, November 17, at Druids Glen Golf Course.

The Challenge Cup has taken place every year since 2005, with the most recent clash resulting in Wicklow beating Bray by 3 1/2 to 2 1/1 – the third year in a row in which the Wicklow players have triumphed. Next year Bray will be hoping for a reversal of fortunes.

A total of €380 was handed over to Pauline Leonard and Eileen Earls of Wicklow Cancer Support Group, which was established 13 years ago to help give practical and emotional support to cancer patients from the Wicklow area.
