Lisa impresses at swimwear contest

DELGANY MUM AIMS FOR BODY-BUILDING EVENT NEXT YEAR

-

WHEN not playing the part of ‘shield maiden’ on TV series Vikings or going to college, Delgany woman Lisa Duggan is showing off her impressive physique in competitions.

Lisa was the winner in her category in the recent ‘Miss Swimwear Goddess 2017’ competition, and a finalist in Miss Bikini Ireland.

Lisa is a single mum of two, fulltime student and part-time extra on The Vikings. Before the series wrapped for Christmas, she was outside in all weathers, running up and down hills in the Wicklow Mountains.

She saw the Miss Bikini Ireland competition online, filled out a form and sent it off.

‘I didn’t think twice about it. A couple of weeks later I got an email telling me I was selected to participate,’ she said.

For the past year, the contest has been going from stage to stage, with meetings, interviews, photoshoots and bootcamps.

The final took place recently in the Buzz venue. She really enjoyed getting her hair and make-up done and getting to glam up.

Actor John Duggan interviewed all the participants during the daylong event.

Although she didn’t win on that occasion (Derry’s Eileen O’Donnell took the title and will represent Ireland at Swimsuit USA International World Finals in Mexico), Lisa went on to take the Miss Swimwear Goddess victory the following week.

Lisa went back to college this year to study sports and fitness in BIFE. She trains at BPT fitness in May and works out twice with a personal trainer, does two to three classes a week and also works out in college.

She said she has always been fit and healthy and did kickboxing for 12 years in Bray with Massan Ghorbani and kept in shape at home before training with the Greystones gym.

Next year, she plans to aim for a body-building competition and will work hard to achieve that goal.

‘I just love the gym,’ she said. ‘I can definitely see the results and it eggs me on to do more and push myself even more.’

Lisa said that the ‘super-skinny’ look is not so much in vogue now and that a healthy, fit physique is much more desirable.

For anyone interested in improving their health and fitness, Lisa’s advice is to make a start.

‘ The hardest part is the first step,’ she said.
