An Arklow man who attempted to change his plea to ‘not guilty’ found himself convicted and fined last week.

Michael Crean, Ballinclea, Arklow, was charged with purchasing alcohol for persons under 18 at Seaview Avenue, Arklow, on August 25, 2016.

He previously entered a guilty plea but on Wednesday last told Arklow District Court that it had ‘no evidence’ and that he wanted to plead not guilty. He also discharged his legal aid solicitor, David Tarrant.

Judge Kennedy said that the plea entered was accepted by the court and handed down a fine of €300.
