Ashford close gap on leaders

SECOND-PLACED Ashford Rovers moved within two points of John Tobin Youth League leaders Avonmore FC with a convincing 4-0 win over Wicklow Rovers ‘B’ at Whitegates.

Kian Marah scored twice for Rovers, with Ryan Beale and Chris Hudson also getting in on the act to wrap up a handsome victory.

Meanwhile, Arklow United earned the local bragging rights with a five-star performance against Arklow Town.

United ran out 5-0 winners, with Cillian Appleby bagging a hat-trick, and Richard Doyle and Ciarán Chong also hitting the back of the net.
