HOLY REDEEMER PARISH

Taize Evening: An open invitation to come, away to the quiet, for 30 minutes of silent reflection, at 8.30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in Holy Redeemer Church.

Evening Mass: There will be a 7 p.m. evening Mass for the remainder of this week.

Children’s Choir: We are looking to form a Children’s choir for the 6 p.m. Mass on Christmas Eve to sing some simple Christmas Carols. If you are interested, come along to the side Chapel after the 10.30 a.m. Mass on Christmas Eve for a practice.

Advent Prayers: If you have a Special intention that you would like included in our Advent Masses, please write it on one of the coloured cards provided on the tables at the rear of the church and place it in the Advent basket. All petitions will be included in the Prayers of the Faithful at all Masses during Advent.

The Coffee Dock: The Coffee Dock will close for Christmas tomorrow (Thursday) after the 10 a.m. Mass, where alongside regular tea and coffee, we will have mulled wine (non-alcoholic) and mince pies. We will also be holding a raffle raising funds for the Coffee Dock. Tickets are €2 a strip or three for €5. Any donations for raffle prizes would be most welcome and can be left into the parish office on or before tomorrow. The Coffee Dock will re-open on Monday, January 8, after 10 a.m. Mass.

Holy Redeemer Crib: On Christmas Eve, during our Masses, the infant Jesus will be placed in the crib, which will by then have moved to the front of the church. We invite you to come in, light a candle, say a prayer and spend a few quiet moments reliving old memories over the busy Christmas season.

Christmas Dues: The priests of the parish gratefully acknowledg­e the receipt of your kind Offering of Christmas dues and thank you very much for your continued support. When returning your Christmas dues envelopes, please place them in the boxes which are fitted in the walls near the doors of the church. What Stays in Holy Redeemer? The generous contributi­ons of our parishione­rs through the Parish Planned Giving Programme, namely standing orders, half yearly and yearly, are used for the day to day running costs such as light, heat, staff, insurance etc. If you are not already contributi­ng we would ask you to consider doing so if at all possible.

This can be paid by Bankers standing order – directly from your bank to ours on a monthly, half-yearly or yearly basis, or by envelope, supplied on your request, on a monthly, half-yearly or early basis. Christmas Cards: Christmas Cards in aid of our Twin Parish Ikanga are available at the doors of the church after Mass or in the parish office Monday to Friday. Price is €3.50 for a packet of six cards, or €10 for three packets.

Christmas Mass Intention Cards: These are available in the sacristy after Mass or in the parish office. These intentions will be remembered in a Special way during all our Masses on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day here in Holy Redeemer. The suggested offering is €5.

ST PETER’S PARISH

Christmas Arrangemen­ts 2017: Christmas Masses: Christmas Eve – 6 p.m.; Christmas Day – 10 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Christmas Dues envelopes and timetable are available in the porch at the back of the church. Please feel free to take one.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Help: New system in place for Assistance. Anybody looking for help from the SVP this Christmas must do so by ringing SVP Dublin at 01 8550022. Please do not leave any Post/Letters in the post box in the parish or Bungalow as they will not be read or considered for Christmas help. Many thanks for your co-operation.

Young at Heart Dinners: Young at Heart dinners will resume in February 2018. Date to be confirmed.

Christmas Cards: 12 Pk. Christmas Cards €8 – Available from the parish office. Proceeds in aid of school funds for children in Kitui Kenya. Christmas Mass Bouquets are also available.

Advent Prayer Books and Calendars: Advent prayer books ‘Walk With Me’ and calendars are available on the book stand for anyone who would like to take one. A donation of €2 is requested to cover costs. Please put money in the box for Books and Papers.

Christmas Stamps: If you have any used stamps, please leave them in the Villa Pacis during office hours. Please leave at least a quarter inch around each stamp. Thank you.

Christmas Dues: Thank you to all who returned their Christmas Dues and to those who helped deliver them. Spare dues envelopes and cards are available in the church porches for anyone who would like to take one.

Annual St Vincent de Paul Collection: The annual St Vincent de Paul collection raised a grand total of €7,575. A huge thank you to all who supported this very worthy cause.

Bugisi Church Door Collection: A Church door collection in aid of our twin parish Bugisi will take place after all Christmas Masses. Thank you for your continued support.

Church Cleaners: We are in need of cleaners for the church for Wednesdays 11 a.m. to midday. Please contact the sacristy at 01 2723865.

Bethany Bereavemen­t: Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group would like to invite people who wish to become volunteers in the Bethany Group. Training will take place in Drumcondra during January 2018 and will be paid for by Bethany. We are a Voluntary Community and parish based service which aims to support the bereaved through the grieving process.

Our team provides home visits, telephone support and we have a drop in centre once a month. If you would like to volunteer and be trained please contact us on the Bethany Mobile for details 086 1696765. Volunteers will be interviewe­d by Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group General Executive Council.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

At the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club Christmas party certificat­es were presented to members for mountain climbing, canoeing, and snorkellin­g. The chairperso­n Albert said that the club has completed 50 years, and all could look forward to the 51st year in confidence of continuity and another great years programme.

Leaders will be taking a very well earned break, and will be back on January 12 will all their batteries fully charged, and ready for another great year of adventure activities.

DIVING CLUB

Due to the recruitmen­t of more members Bray Divers are installing extra toilets and showers in their club building in Greystones Harbour. Two members have completed training, two are being trained, and two more have applied for membership. Training courses are tailor made to suit candidates, and would be an ideal Christmas or New Year gift. For details call 087 6756439.

NEW YEAR’S DAY SWIM

BRAY LIBRARY

Bray Library opening hours are – Monday/Wednesday/ Friday/Saturday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday – 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Borrowers are reminded that books can be renewed by phone – call 01 2862600. The library will close this Friday at 5 p.m. and re-open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2.

CUALANN SOCIETY

The AGM of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, the will take place at 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, in the Royal Hotel Bray and all members are requested to attend. The meeting will conclude with a presentati­on by Brian White on ‘1918 – Votes for Women’ – all welcome, admission free for members and €5 for visitors, Those wishing to join the society can do at this meeting.
