ORDER OF MALTA LAUNCHES AMBULANCE AHEAD OF 75TH ANNIVERSARY

- By MARY FOGARTY

THE Order of Malta in Bray launched its new ambulance at Fitzpatrick Motors ahead of the local order’s 75th anniversary.

‘We are delighted to launch our new ambulance in conjunction with Des and all the team at Fitzpatrick Motors in Bray,’ said officer in charge Bernard Hayden.

The entire Bray branch is thrilled at having acquired the new ambulance. Des Fitzpatrick presented Bernard with a cheque for €500 from a recent charity football fundraiser. ‘It is no mean feat to fundraise over €70,000 to replace a 12-year-old ambulance and has taken years of planning,’ said Mr Hayden.

‘ The Ford Transit van supplied by Fitzpatrick Motors and converted by Primo Coachworks enables our volunteers to continue to provide the high standard of patient care with the latest equipment and technology on board to the local community as we head into 2018 and celebrate 75 years in Bray.’

The Order of Malta Ireland is one of the largest providers of first aid and voluntary medical services in Ireland.

As part of an International organisation working in over 120 countries, with a heritage stretching back to the Knights Hospitallers, it was established in 1938 in Galway.

From small beginnings it has developed into an organisation of over 3,000 members in more than 80 Units spread throughout communities all over Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Thousands of members of the Order of Malta organisation volunteer their time on a weekly basis to provide the highest standard of first-aid medical services at national and local events, training in life-saving skills and delivering community care initiatives.
