Projects nominated for awards

-

THREE Bray tourism projects have been shortlisted in the All Ireland Community and Council Awards 2018.

They are the bray.ie website, the Bray Air Display, and the Brave Maeve Story Trail.

Commenting on the news, the Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District, Cllr Christopher Fox, said: ‘We are delighted again to be shortlisted for the awards this year.

The nominations recognise the overall performance and the quality of our online engagement via bray.ie, our biggest tourism event - the Bray Air Display is seen as a significant contribution to Irish tourism and that the Brave Maeve Story Trail celebrates local collaboration at its best.’

Last year, Bray.ie won the ‘Best Connected Community’. ‘It was a honour and privilege to receive this award,’ said a spokesman. ‘For Bray.ie to be recognised like this is a true testament to our hard work. It shows that our online community engagement is having a real impact. It would be great if we retained the award for 2018.’

The Bray Air Display took place this year on Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23, with 140,000 spectators.

The story of ‘Brave Maeve’ the giant is illustrated on a trail of images along Bray seafront. The story follows a young giant adventurer called Maeve as she sets out to find a home for her people and battles many monsters along the way.
