Baltinglass Minors celebrate super year

-

THE successful Baltinglass Minor footballers met for the final time in 2017 recently.

After spending the day watching Leinster beat Exeter in the Aviva, the team returned to the GAA club for a presentation night.

It was an evening of celebration and reflection as people gathered to recognise the hard work and dedication of the victorious team and their committed management group.

The players were awarded their Wicklow Minor Championship medals by club stalwart Kevin O’Brien and Chairperson Seamus Kelly.

There were two special awards of recognition on the night: Most Improved Player and Player of the Year awards.

The Most Improved Player award went to the very deserving Paddy Whelan, who was a vital component in the championship campaign.

His passion and never give up attitude drove the team on throughout the year and particularly on county final day, where he had one of the best games of his life.

The main award of the night, the Player of the Year award, went to William Rogers.

It is often underestimated the importance of a good goalkeeper, and in William Baltinglass have definitely found a keeper!

William impressed the whole year and his superb kick outs provided the team with go forward ball. No doubt he has a great future between the sticks for both club and county.

As the night drew to a close, it marked the end of a fantastic run for a great group of players.
