Mc Manus is a warded a ministerial post
December 1994
DEMOCRATIC LEFT TD Liz McManus became County Wicklow’s first government member in over seven years this week when she was named as junior minister at the Department of Environment in the new three- party coalition.
Expressing delight at being appointed Minister of State with responsibility for Housing and Urban Renewal (a post formerly held by Labour’s Emmet Stagg), the Bray-based TD said she felt particularly suited to the new job in view of her own background as a qualified architect, her local authority experience with housing and her work in the field of emergency accommodation with the Bray Women’s Refuge.
‘In spite of increased allocations, waiting lists for local authority housing have been building up over recent times and my top priority will be to reduce them,’ she said.
