Our Lady Queen of Peace Christmas 2017 Arrangemen­ts: Mass Times: Today (Wednesday) to Saturday – Daily Mass at 10.30 a.m. New Year’s Eve Service of Thanksgivi­ng – 4.15 p.m. Saturday, January 6 (feast of the Epiphany) – 7 p.m. (Vigil Mass) on Friday, January 5, and on Saturday, January 6, at 10.30 a.m.

Welcome to Eucharisti­c Adoration: We invite you to commit to one hour per week. If you currently attend but are not signed up, we would encourage you to become part of the official rota as we need to ensure that each hour is covered. Signing up is easy. There are cards and informatio­n at the special display at the back of the church. Please fill in one of the cards and leave it in the box provided. There will be a talk at all of the Masses this Saturday and Sunday by the Diocesan Perpet- ual Adoration Group.

Bethany Bereavemen­t: Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group would like to invite people who wish to become volunteers in the Bethany Group. Training will take place in Drumcondra during January 2018 and will be paid for by Bethany. We are a Voluntary Community and parish based service which aims to support the bereaved through the grieving process.

The name Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group is derived from the story of Jesus’ friends, Martha and Mary, who lived in a village called Bethany and grieved over the death of their brother Lazarus.

Our team provides home visits, telephone support and we have a drop in centre once a month. If you would like to volunteer and be trained please contact us on the Bethany Mobile for details – 086 1696765. Volunteers will be interviewe­d by Bethany Bereave- ment Support Group General Executive Council.

Legion of Mary: The Legion of Mary would like to request donations of Catholic magazines, these can be left at the back of the church. The residents in the local nursing homes are very appreciati­ve to receive these magazines. We would also welcome new members. Our meetings take place on Thursday mornings at 11 a.m. in Villa Pacis.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Amy Byrne won the Member of the Year award in the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club. Mike Carroll presented Cormac Brierton with the Everest Challenge trophy. His accumulati­ve mountains climbed added up to 10,000 feet. Fourteen others received certificat­es for attain- ing 5,000 feet. Snorkellin­g and canoeing certificat­es were presented to a number of members. Induction courses for new leaders will begin in the New Year.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers plans for the New Year include the installati­on of extra showers and toilets in their clubhouse, the procuremen­t of stainless steel troughs for washing water sports equipment. Holidays abroad will be organised in lanzarote, and the Maldives. Training courses are ongoing and are tailor made to suit the participan­ts. Call 0876756439 for details.

CUALANN SOCIETY

The AGM of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, the will take place at 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, in the Royal Hotel Bray and all members are requested to attend.

The meeting will conclude with a presentati­on by Brian White on ‘1918 – Votes for Women’ – all welcome, admission free for members and €5 for visitors, Those wishing to join the society can do at this meeting.
