Annual Register Of Vestry Persons: Each year in the month of January every Church of Ireland parish revises its register of parishioners. People, who have become new members of the parish and parishioners who have reached the age of eighteen are entitled to become registered members of the Parish (referred to as registered vestry members). In a similar manner, names of those who have ceased to be registered vestry persons through death or having moved away from the parish, are deleted.
The Alpha/In-Between Book Club: The Book Club will not meet during December and their next meeting takes place on Tuesday, January 30, at 8 p.m. The books for this review and discussion at this meeting are – ‘Elinor Elephant is Completely Fine’ by Gail Honeyman and ‘ Plainsong’ by Kent Haruf.

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmation certificates or application forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificates and application forms can be processed.
Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m.
Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass.
Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website stannesparishshankill.com and then clicking onto video link.
Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church

at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s parish office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangements. Please note that when visiting the parish office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificate should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediately.
Pre-Baptism Meetings: Pre-Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month.
Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availability in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for further information. Facilities include Free car park, tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands, three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people, or 15 people.
Baptism Commemorative Cards: To mark the World Meeting of Families 2018, the parish will be offering a commemorative card to the family of each child who receives baptism in the coming year. The Purpose of this card is to highlight a message about baptism from Pope Francis’ The Joy of Love, where he says: ‘For God allows parents to choose the name by which He Himself will call their child for all eternity’.
Wedding Commemorative Cards: To mark the World Meet- ing of families in August 2018, all couples getting married in the parish during this coming year will receive the gift of a commemorative card, with a blessing, suitable for framing. The card has a prayer from Pope Francis for all married couples – Lord give us this day our daily love. The card includes the couple’s names.
Tidy Towns calendars for 2018: Now are available now in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Cost: €5.
Christmas Offerings: The Christmas Dues envelopes are available at the back of the church.
Youth 2000: We invite all 16- to 35-year-olds to come to St Anne’s Resource Centre for the next meeting on Monday, January 8, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. to gather for adoration, prayer and reflection under the guidance of Fr Jaimie. The meetings are followed by a cup of tea and social from 9 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
St Anne’s Parish Library: There is a wonderful selection of religious/spiritual books available to borrow – free of charge in the foyer of St Anne’s Resource Centre. Opening hours: Monday to Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hospitality Sunday occurs on the second and fourth Sunday of each month after 10.30 a.m. Mass. Books will be on display and available to browse/borrow at that time also.
Prayer for the eighth on the eighth day of each Month: We invite parishioners to give private adoration in the Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel on the eighth day of each month to pray for the protection of the unborn.

Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament: The UAC hold Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of each month. This is a worldwide initiative by the Pallottine Family to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. BOOK SALE
The January First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Association, will take place in the Shankill Old Folks Day Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, on Saturday, January 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into the book sale that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunity to pick up some excellent reading material for the New Year.
Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day. Photographs and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.
SHANKILL LIBRARY
Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – closed this Friday but open on Saturday. The parents and Toddler Group meets on Monday mornings,(except bank holiday Mondays and the second Monday of the month), from 10.30 a.m. to 11.20 a.m.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The January meeting of the Rathmichael Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surrounding area, will take place at 8 p.m. next Wednesday (January 3) in Rathmichael School, Shankill, at which the AGM of the society will take place and will conclude with a presentation by John Lennon covering ‘The History of Main Street, Dundrum’. All welcome to attend – admission €4. Those wishing to join the Rathmichael Historical Society can do so this meeting.
ICA GUILD
The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB
There was great excitement at the Academy last Saturday week morning as we had a visit from Santa, who had a present for every boy and girl in the club. The Academy is taking a break and will resume training in St Laurence College at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 20. Our committee and members would like to wish one and all ‘A Happy and Peaceful Christmas’. We are having a fundraising bag pack in Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt on Saturday, December 30, from 10 a.m. we need to have as many people as possible to help with the event.
The annual general meeting will be held in St Anne’s Resource Centre Shankill at 8 p.m. on Monday, January 29. Notice of motions or nominations for the committee must be submitted in writing to the secretary before the end of December 2017.
