House prices rose another 11 per cent in late-2017

HOUSE prices rose in County Wicklow during the final three months of 2017 by 11 per cent compared to the same period of time in 2016.

According to Daft.ie, the average price of a house in the Garden County now stands at €314,000, 54 per cent above its lowest point.

That represents a year-on-year change of 10.7 per cent.

In comparison local house prices only rose by 4 per cent during the final three months of 2016.

House prices nationally rose by more than €20,000 on average during 2017. With prices stable in the final quarter of the year, this means that the average price was almost €241,000, 9.2 per cent higher than a year ago.

Compared to their lowest point in 2013, prices nationwide have risen by an average of almost 47 per cent or just over €76,500.

In December there were fewer than 5,000 properties in Leinster available on the market, a 5 per cent fall on the same date in 2016.

December also represente­d the 103rd month in a row of falling availabili­ty.
