Youth project makes donation to Pieta
A GROUP of 20 newly certified peer leaders from Ballywaltrim, Bray, recently presented a cheque for €3,890 to Danny Bohan of Pieta House.
The young people of Ballywaltrim, Bray had been fundraising for two years, hosting a number of events including a live pro wrestling show, a 12 hour football blitz, a Dublin to Paris stationary bike cycle, a 50,000 rep challenge, a 30km walk from The Spire to Ballywaltrim, a candle making project and a Christmas fundraiser. The presentation marked the project’s fifth year of their annual fundraising initiative, bringing the young people’s contribution to charitable causes to over €17,000.
The leaders commented that ‘ the young people from Ballywaltrim have set a great marker for what they are capable of and their dedication to helping others through young person-centred, community activities and initiatives is a great credit to them. We have no doubt that they will continue to be a great asset to their community and a great example to their peers.’
The youth project has already set about identifying new causes to be the benefactors of their work in 2018 and have had their first brainstorming sessions around charitable work for the new year.
