Top marks for Loreto’s Christmas jumper day

-

IT HAS long been a tradition in Loreto Bray to support the Society of St Vincent de Paul at Christmas time. In previous years, the students collected items to make hampers.

However, recently it was felt that a monetary contribution would be more beneficial. So, on the last Friday before the Christmas holidays a Christmas themed non-uniform day was held. Students had the option of dressing in Christmas fancy dress or of wearing their Christmas jumper. This important day signaled the start of Christmas in the school community and staff and students alike participated, with an impressive array of jumpers always on display.

Three enterprising students from sixth year – Ciara Murphy, Emma Nolan and photographer Andrea Farrelly – set up a photo booth to further enhance the day and their innovative Christmas grotto drew many students, who were delighted for the opportunity to capture on camera memories of a happy day at Loreto.

At the end of the day, a massive €1,900 had been raised for those in need in our community.

‘Loreto Bray staff and students feel privileged to be able to help others in our local community at this special time of year,’ said a spokeswoman for the school.
