Grand day for a dip

-

THE great and the good of Greystones wouldn’t dream of letting a spot of rain get in the way of their Christmas traditions.

Each year, those brave enough for it take a mid-morning dip in the Irish Sea on Christmas Day. Others bring their warmest coats and a flask of tea, or maybe a nip of something stronger, to enjoy the spectacle.

Screams could be heard all over, as men, women, children and dogs flung themselves into the cold water.

There was some very heavy rain on Christmas Day, with conditions not much better on dry land than in the seawater.
