Singers do Cecil proud in festive performance

-

Christmas carols filled the evening air in Greystones last week as singers made their way from estate to estate. All proceeds from the festive pilgrimage by the Cecil Beare ecumenical carol singing group will go to local charities.

The founder of the group, Mr Cecil Beare, has since passed away, and his work continues. The group has been bringing festive melodies to the town of Greystones for over 50 years. It is a very well established Christmas tradition and the call went out for anyone who wanted to take part to join in.

Between Monday, December 18, and Thursday, December 21, they covered the vast majority of the town, meeting at a different location each evening at 7.30 p.m. The singers got a very warm welcome at the doors of Greystones and sang most tunefully. Estates included Applewood Heights, Bellevue Road and Hillside, the Burnaby area and Rathdown and Redford Parks.
